SAN RAMON, Calif., OCTOBER 19, 2005 - Chevron Global Marketing today announced it has hit a major milestone with the Texaco star: 1,500 stations are now supplied by Chevron Products Company in the United States, and the number of Chevron-supplied Texaco retail locations continues to grow.
"This milestone shows the great momentum behind the Texaco star," said Shariq Yosufzai, President of Global Marketing for Chevron. "The Texaco brand is one of the most recognized brands in the world with a 100-year history of quality, and we are excited about the vast and positive response we've received from retailers, marketers and customers about the growing number of Texaco stations."
Chevron Global Marketing has further reinforced its strong commitment to the Texaco brand with the addition of Chevron's specially patented additive, Techron, to all of its Texaco stations. "Techron provides the key ingredient that differentiates Chevron and Texaco gasolines from other brands in the marketplace," said Danny Roden, Vice President, Chevron North America Marketing. "Our customers know when they see the 'with Techron' logo at Texaco stations that they are receiving the utmost in quality products and services that are clean, safe, and reliable."
In addition to hitting this major milestone, Texaco is also kicking off a promotion where customers can receive a #42 Texaco/Havoline car decal with any gasoline purchase at participating Texaco stations. Also, all customers approved for a Chevron and Texaco credit card until Nov. 30 will receive a free Limited Edition #42 Texaco/Havoline Racing Cap. For the first 500 approvals, the cap will be personally autographed by the #42 car driver, Jamie McMurray.
In connection with its 2001 merger with Texaco, Chevron was required to license the Texaco retail brand to Shell in the United States for the marketing and sale of gasoline on an exclusive basis until July 1, 2004. Currently, both Chevron and Shell have rights to use the Texaco brand in the United States. On July 1, 2006 Chevron will assume exclusive rights to the Texaco brand.
