Sportstars Awards
 Considered to be the longest-running commercial sponsorship in Irish sports history, the Texaco Sportstars Awards have become the premier forum for recognizing—and celebrating—the achievements of Irish athletes.
Since the inaugural presentation in 1958, the annual Texaco Sportstars Awards have stood for the success that Ireland's sport ambassadors have brought to their country through both national and international competition.
Next to an Olympic, World, or European sporting honor, the Texaco Sportstars Trophy has become the award that all athletes want to have in their trophy cabinet--one that has come to symbolize achievement in every aspect of Irish sporting life.
Each year, 10 Texaco Sportstars Awards are given to the most deserving athletes from various sports, such as golf, soccer, hockey, boxing, rugby, Gaelic football, horse racing and cricket, among others. Hall of Fame and Special Achievement Awards are also presented. The recipients are chosen by a panel of national sports editors.
