Texaco/Havoline Team Facts:
NEXTEL Cup Series
- Viva Las Vegas: Juan Pablo Montoya will be making his first starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Busch and Cup Series races. Montoya and the Texaco/Havoline Cup team participated in the two-day, NASCAR-sanctioned test in February in preparation for the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 on Sunday.
- Firsts: Montoya earned his first NASCAR victory on Sunday in the Busch Series race in Mexico City. It was his seventh Busch Series start of his young NASCAR career. He led 43 laps en route to the victory in the Telcel-Motorola 200. Montoya is also the first Latino to win in any of the three NASCAR national touring series’. The last non-US driver to win in the Busch Series was Canadian Ron Fellows at Watkins Glen in 2001.
- Standings: Montoya and the Texaco/Havoline team sit 20th in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup standings following their 18th-place finish in the Daytona 500 and 26th-place effort at California.
- Rookie Status: Montoya currently sits second in the Raybestos Rookie standings following his 26th-place finish at California Speedway. He is nine points behind David Ragan after two events. Montoya, however, was the top qualifying rookie at Daytona and California, posting times in the top 10.
- It takes one to know Juan!: Did you know that Montoya and his family love paintball? In fact, the Montoyas have a paintball field with inflatables at his home in Bogota, Colombia.
- Road Trip: Texaco/Havoline has just made traveling to the race track easier for race fans. Fans can go to www.texacohavoline42.com, click on the link for the road trip and enter their starting location and race destination. In addition to receiving the best route to the track, fans will also get directions to the nearest Texaco Xpress Lube and Texaco filling stations along the way to make planning their trip to see Montoya easier.
- Updated Site: The fan and media site at www.texacohavoline42.com has been revamped for the 2007 season. Media and fans can get up-to-date information on the team, Montoya as well as special features like an exclusive blog from Montoya’s spotter Tab Boyd.
- Chassis: Crew chief Donnie Wingo and the Texaco/Havoline team are bringing chassis #703 to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400. This chassis made its debut in the Auto Club 500 at California Speedway just two weeks ago.
