Texaco/Havoline Team Facts:
NEXTEL Cup Series
- Atlanta: Juan Pablo Montoya will once again be making a career first this weekend. Montoya has never run at the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS). He will turn laps on the track for the first time on Friday morning when his No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Busch Series Dodge takes to the track at 10:40 a.m.
- Standings: Montoya and the Texaco/Havoline team slipped two spots to 22nd in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup standings following their 22nd-place finish on Sunday in Las Vegas. The team is only 54 points out of the top 10 following the first three races on the Cup schedule.
- Rookie Status: Montoya currently sits second in the Raybestos Rookie standings following his 22nd-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Montoya was the Rookie of the Race for the UAW DaimlerChrysler 400 in Las Vegas. He is now seven points behind David Ragan.
- Helping Out: In conjunction with NASCAR, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Florida Department of Transportation, Montoya will be filming a public service announcement (PSA) for the "Click It or Ticket" campaign designed to promote seat belt safety. The PSA will be filmed in both English and Spanish.
- It takes one to know Juan: Montoya may be known for his road course racing expertise, but in the two years he drove for Chip Ganassi in the CART Series he won 10 races. Five of those wins did come on road courses; the other five—including the Indy 500—came on ovals. His other four victories came at Milwaukee, Michigan, St. Louis and Nazareth.
- 20th Anniversary Note: Did you know Kenny Irwin holds the record for most laps led by a rookie in the spring race at Atlanta? In 1998, Irwin led five times for 112 laps driving the No. 28 Texaco/Havoline car. He later went on to capture the 1998 Rookie of the Year title.
- Chassis: Crew chief Donnie Wingo and the Texaco/Havoline team have chosen chassis #706 for Montoya's first run at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This is a new chassis and has only been tested at the wind tunnel.
- Texaco/Havoline has just made traveling to the race track easier for race fans. Fans can go to www.texacohavoline42.com, click on the link for the road trip and enter their starting location and race destination. In addition to receiving the best route to the track, fans will also get directions to the nearest Texaco Xpress Lube and Texaco filling stations along the way to make planning their trip to see Montoya easier.
- Updated Site: The fan and media site at www.texacohavoline42.com has been revamped for the 2007 season. Media and fans can get up-to-date information on the team, Montoya as well as special features like an exclusive blog from Montoya’s spotter Tab Boyd.
