Chevron Calls for Dismissal of Lawsuit
Case is a judicial farce constituting a denial of justice
After three years of plaintiff attorney misconduct, their failure to present legitimate evidence to support their claims, judicial misconduct by the Ecuadorian Court and most recently, Government of Ecuador officials and plaintiffs' attorney's joint interference in the case to pressure the Court, Chevron has called for an end to the lawsuit.

Chevron is sympathetic to the plight of the citizens of the Oriente. The major health concerns in the Oriente region are not the result of oil operations, but are related to lack of water treatment infrastructure, the lack of sufficient sanitation infrastructure and inadequate access to medical care. However, we firmly reject the notion that Chevron should be held accountable for addressing the overall problems of the region, caused because the government and the state oil company are unwilling or unable to shoulder their responsibility.

Remediation & Results
In 1998, the Government of Ecuador certified that Texpet's remediation met Ecuadorian and international standards and released Texpet from future claims and obligations. Results from hundreds of water and soil samples prove that the people of the Oriente face no significant oil-related health risk from areas remediated by Texpet.

Petroecuador Responsibility
