In 1998, the Government of Ecuador certified that Texaco Petroleum's remediation met Ecuadorian and international standards and released Texaco Petroleum from future claims and obligations. Results from hundreds of water and soil samples prove that the people of the Oriente face no significant oil-related health risk from areas remediated by Texaco Petroleum.
