The plaintiffs' lawyer did not want the PETROECUADOR oil spill to be inspected, but Judge Novillo ordered it to be included it after consulting with his technical experts. ChevronTexaco's lawyers have repeatedly pointed out to the Court that ChevronTexaco can not be held responsible for the numerous oil spills PETROECUADOR has experienced during the past 14 years they have been the sole operator of the former concession area.
